Guidance was given to me to write and self-publish a pocket size book titled: More We Than Me. Human me discovered it is a powerful little book. It takes only 10 minutes to read it and a lifetime to live it. It was unbelievable what happened to me after I wrote that book. The first thing that happened was a buyer at DeVorss and Co, a large Distributing Company in Marina Del Rey, California, agreed to distribute More We Than Me. Another feel good happened. A B Dalton store manager in a large mall arranged an autograph party and she didn’t even read my book. This led to 12 autograph parties at B Dalton book stores in malls in Toledo, Ohio and San Antonio, Texas.
Next on the list of "feel goods" was the opportunity to share the book with children and teens. Because the majority of children that came to the autograph tables were from Catholic schools I decided it would be wise to go to the San Antonio Catholic Diocese and talk with the Superintendent of schools. She introduced me to Sister Antonio who had charge of the curricula in all the parochial schools in San Antonio. She introduced me to Sister Finbarr, principle of St. Mary Magdalens school on West Avenue. To my amazement she gave me full charge of 45 minute classes. They ranged from k-g through 8th grade.
I asked Sister Finbarr, “How is it that you can give me freedom to be in the classrooms and she answered, “You’re book is an excellent resource book. I want the children to know what is in it.” It felt so good to be there, I stayed five years.
At the school I wrote “Do It” books, developed activities and composed music. It was there that the word MeLand became useful. At first it was “the Land of Me.” But later I heard Bing Crosby sing “Winter Wonderland” and thought, “Wow, why not call “In the Land of Me,” MeLand?
I taught the children that the best comes from Invisible Loving Me. It’s like plugging in a toaster to get toast. We have to plug into Invisible Me to receive the deliciousness of Life.
The MeLand concept plugs in. Ask any child what it means to be a Me in MeLand. You will find children know MeLand is a word that identifies the loving place inside themselves. I asked teens in an eighth grade class what would happen if everyone knew they lived in the Land of Me. Hands flew into the air. Everyone was eager to talk. “There would be no war, no jails, no hospitals and no bad feelings.” They knew the world would be full of happy red heart DANCERS that play in the Kingdom of Me.
Interaction with the children was great. The fun we experienced when together is woven into all my creativity. After leaving the school I enjoyed being with children in other schools where teachers were using the MeLand concepts. You can check on testimonials to read some of the wonderful feedback I have received from teachers and students.
It is easy to see that after the experience of finding MeLand for myself I spread the possibility to others in music and activities.
This is a picture my son took in his home. I laugh when I see the two pictures, the one that was taken by a photographer at a luncheon where I advertised MeLand and this one. It’s amazing how alike they are. You can laugh with me. It is obvious I had a favorite outfit to wear and that I enjoy wearing my family beads. It feels so good to have a family to love, I wear the family beads everywhere I go.
When I autographed Celebrate MeLand song-activity books at Borders and Barnes and Noble stores Jayne Morgan Kidd was with me. She, Peter Carey and I created the MeLand music.
